These days in the SaaS market, it feels like "just add AI" is the secret ingredient for boosted productivity and revenue generation. But is it really that easy?
Wrong. AI can be a powerful tool to streamline workflows, handle client communications, and save your team's time and money. But that doesn't mean every product out there has these capabilities.
As AI adoption becomes more commonplace, it's important to be able to differentiate the one-trick-ponys from the life-savers. And the reality is that for most AI tools to add value, it takes the right product and the right configuration to succeed. Implementation is going to do next to nothing without:
An AI tool can only do so much without your data. We're talking surface-level actions that add more steps to your workflow. It's mostly a shiny trick without much substance.
By providing your AI tool with organizational context, i.e. your data, it can actually learn your processes and begin to improve them. And that's where the real magic (the value) happens.
When shopping around, check for AI products that can be integrated with your teams' tools. This includes CRMs, transcription tools, socials, calendars, and more.
Yes, chatbots are great, and so are AI-generated email transcripts.
But the market is now oversaturated with AI products that can complete every little task. Having every bell and whistle seems nice from the outside, but if they don't actually add value, it's a waste of everyone's time and money.
Instead, choose an AI product that solves a pain within your organization. Then, take the time to train it, so it can learn about your product and workflow, and actually start to provide value.
People are quick to criticize AI tools without giving them a proper chance. So make sure you're choosing a tool that has the potential to fit into your day-to-day and help you scale long term.
Implementing a new tool and throwing your team to the wolves never ends well. Instead, make sure they have had a training session or two on what the tool is, what it does, and new standards going forward. Record the training session, highlight the TLDR in public channels, and make sure the team is sticking to the new workflow.
Without giving your team time to commit the AI tool to muscle memory as a new part of the workflow, you're setting yourself, your team, and the AI product up to fail. Change management is important, especially in larger organizations, but taking the time to do things right will lead to successes in the future.
